Today was more eventful and strange.
There were only a handful of shops left to visit. About noon I went and visited Angel at GeekLife. The store has only been open for a few weeks now. It is basically like going over to a friends posh apartment. It has a clean environment, nice tables, chairs and a good variety of games. They now have a great variety of supplies too (including ours :)).
After my meeting with Angel I met up with a couple friends downtown at Tout Suite. After hearing the name I knew that it was going to be a new-wave, Frenchish cafe, hipster joint and it would be expensive. It was exactly that. It took a very long time to get our food. When it finally arrived I dug into the Cuban sandwich. It was spectacular. A little on the salty side, but the pork they used was of great quality and flavor. The curry soup was equally as good. If you're downtown, have money and want a good sandwich this is a great stop.
This is where it gets strange. I was on the west side of Houston. A homeless man in his early 30s was holding a sign saying "Starving Christian". I just pulled out from the gas station where I had gotten two liter bottles of water. I had no cash, but I at least thought he would enjoy a cold bottle of water. I was wrong.
He said that he couldn't accept it because he had been poisoned too many times for handing out fliers like the orange one above. He handed it to me and I was reading it. I looked back at him and before I could say a word he yells, "Did you just wink at me?" I replied, "No." He flew into a rant about how there's this secret society of devil worshipers that are trying to kill him and corrupt society. He said they wink at you and their cars have the one of headlights smashed out. He went around the front of the car to make sure I wasn't one of them. He said that he was going to stop their evil plans and destroy their organization. Then he casually told me to have a good day and started walking towards the cars behind me. I'm not making any of this up lol.
Tomorrow I'll be heading back home to my wife and two boys. The trip was a great success and after we restock our coffers we'll be back on the road in the north. Thanks for reading!
BONUS: Austin sent me these pictures from Kaboom Comics in McAllen. He said it was a really sweet store. He didn't have much luck in the valley as most of the stores can't even make an 8 man FNM. However, you may be able to find us at Kaboom in the next few weeks.
